Neighbours that drive you nuts

I hate inconsiderate, unthoughtful people who are a pain. Take our neighbours for example. Their drive way is big enough to fit 5 cars on (near enough) whereas ours will only fit 2, at a squeeze. Yet they insist on parking on the road outside our house. One of them kindly parked their car in such an awkward position last night that I had to do a 17-point turn just to get out of the drive. All I wanted to do was get some washing out – the car was blocking the garage door and yes, our washing machine is in the garage.

You just wonder about the mentality of some people. It’s not just parking, that was merely an example. I’m talking about people who walk 3 abreast so you have to walk in the road. People that would rather let a door slam in your face than hold it open. People who park across 2 spaces in a car park. People who don’t pull forward in a petrol station, so you have to wait longer. People who spit on the floor. People who blow their nose in public.

I’m getting carried away, but you catch my drift. Are these people naturally obtuse? Do they know they’re being a tit but don’t care? Or are they blissfully unaware? Either way, I hate them. Get some manners you slags.

Yup, that’s something I can’t stand. I’m a thoroughly unpleasant person who would happily kill the entire population of the world just because I was bored and yet I value politeness very highly. Basic consideration for others makes life bearable for us all.

But it seems to me that these days, people are much more concerned with themselves. They have almost a siege mentality whereby they feel it’s them against the world, so anything they can do to make their lives easier or more comfortable should be done without thought to the consequences for others. It causes me much despair.

What worries me are that there seem to be so many people around now that have no respect for themselves and are thus incapable of having any for other people. Oddly, these are usually the same people that band on about repec’ the most.

A little thought or a minor kindness can make a large difference to someone’s day. Being polite disadvantages no one, so why are so many people so loathe to show the slightest consideration for others?

To be fair, one can find references to unruly youth, the disintegration of the manners system and a lack of consideration for others in the writings of Homer and Virgil, so one could argue ’twas ever thus, but I feel that I have seen a steady decline during my own lifetime. Perhaps it’s just age…

I take issue with you Kodabar – I don’t think you are unpleasant or thoroughly so either, so there :P (you bely your true common decency again and again – case closed)

I have to appologise for having to blow my nose constantly this morning, i’m having trouble breathing you see, also if i didn’t i’d be swimming in snot :p

I let doors slam in peoples face’s too, if they don’t say thanks when i keep it open for them the first time, i just let go the next.

I hate mobile phones the most oh and people that don’t blow their nose and sit there sniffing the snot the whole time.

i know what you mean, i hate people who use Linux- why cant they just bloody use windows like everybody else? Why are they so superior? I also hate people who use buses, cyclists, pregnant mothers and their children, old people, traffic wardens, people who dont find Clarkson funny, environMENTALISTS! People who go to Glastonbury, people who’ve got an Ipad, people who watch the news, people who read the Independent (bloody self righteous sods), people who say Kanye West is nice, people who actually like Humous, p[eople who eat lentils, Gordon Brown, people who who do “crafts” as a hobby- Need I go on? Is it me? I ask you!
