First Person or Third Person?

I’m what you could call a “bedroom” author – that is I write in my bedroom, not about bedrooms. I used to be a bedroom DJ, no one really heard me play, but a few choice people have read my stories. I’ve always written fiction in the third person, but lately I’ve been toying with [...]

Getting old – why is it a problem?

Hitting 30 in a matter of hours. People keep saying “last moments of your 20′s” and other similar comments like it should bother me, why? I can understand a woman being concerned about getting older, their looks will diminish and the body clock ticks them close to being unable to (safely) have children. But why [...]

In this wonderful world of free speech where Kodabar, Lex and I can all dream up our own ideal video games and no one will pay any attention whatsoever, I thought about what other wonderful things I could conjure up with my imagination. The mobile phone Yesterday I was musing with a friend about how [...]

Fluorescent is the new black

Apparently fluorescent is the new black. Prostitutes in Spain are being forced to wear fluorescent jackets when trying to attract “business” in an effort to stop them being hit by cars. Failure to wear the immensely sexy fluorescent jackets could result in a potential fine of around £35! Brilliant.

When the funk did the 80′s become cool again?

I’ve rambled and tweeted about this before, but seriously, when did the 80′s become cool again? Mirror’d shades, big hair, shoulder pads, leggins. I know they say fashion is cyclical, but some things need to die.

If Carlsberg made First Person Shooters… No, just joshing. I was musing the other day that gaming lately has become a bit “meh” – everything’s the same and nothing is truly great. I’m not just talking about First Person Shooters, I mean any game. I love(d) Grand Theft Auto, but GTA IV was a disappointment [...]

If you’re poor and just about scraping a living, it can be quite depressing. As we all know, there’s no easy way to “get rich quick”. That doesn’t mean you can’t earn a little bit of money to treat yourself. Here’s a few ways…. www.valuedopinions.co.uk These chaps provide consumer research surveys. Sign up and wait [...]

Man on crutches coming through

This morning on the way to work I saw a man dragging himself along on crutches, up and downstairs, tired and in pain. It made me sad. I didn’t appreciate just how difficult getting about with just crutches was until roughly this time last year when I broke my ankle for the first time in [...]

Tanks for the serial numbers

There’s an interesting story over at Wired.com about “How Allies Used Math Against German Tanks“. Apparently, when trying to work out how many tanks the enemy were producing, the usual techniques of spying failed to come up with the right figures. Instead the Germans own manufacturing processes were used against them as the Allies recorded [...]

Make your own cuts on the CSR

Yesterday, I rambled about the Comprehensive Spending Review and it’s affect on the poor people (i.e. me). Today I discovered a rather neat interactive tool for making your own cuts over at The Guardian’s website. It allows you to choose where you think the cuts should have been made. Good fun if you’re really that [...]
